STANDINGS & PROJECTIONS METHODOLOGY

Standings are sourced directly from NHL.com. Projected Points, Playoff Odds, and Stanley Cup Odds are sourced from the TopDownHockey game simulation model.

The TopDownHockey game simulation model uses Regularized-Adjusted Plus Minus (RAPM) to estimate the impact that each player has on their team's rate of creating scoring chances - measured in Expected Goals (xG) - and also estimates the finishing talent of each shooter and saving talent of each goaltender, to ultimately measure the rate at which each team will score goals against one another.

Each night, the regular season and playoffs are simulated 1 million times, and the points pace and playoff odds are computed from the empirical averages of these simulations.
